Okay, so there's the classic early Ernie/Bert sketch where both have a "delicious glass of ice cold grape juice" and a "delicious piece of cheese, sausage, anchovy, and pepperoni pizza" except Ernie has more of each item than Bert and when Bert complains, Ernie "fixes" the problem by eating some of his pizza & juice to even it out - until Ernie then notices that Bert has more of each so then starts to eat Bert's stuff to even it out (i always loved how Bert just gives up at the end and walks away without eating).

I've always wondered about this since i was a kid - would pizza (especially sausage, anchovy and pepperoni) taste all that great with grape juice? Did people ever actually eat them together in the early 70s or at any time? I love both seperately but i would never think of having them together.

It's actually a lot more common than you realize.

Generally, pizza and grape juice (or grade soda even) go together as much as cookies and milk; personally, I usually drink some kind of juice with my pizza (not necessarily grape, but usually some kind of berry flavor). Being from the south, where it's hot most of the time, I find that certain baked goods go well with lemonade, especially cupcakes (which also go good with apple juice).
