I'm not sure if thats what they're called, but I'm looking for a basic pattern for a "Practical Hands" puppet body. (Thats what The Foam Book calls it, anyway.)

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about. A "practical hands" puppet is one which uses the puppeteers own hand rather than arm rods.

A very easy way to do this is to simply trace your own hand to make a two-piece glove. Many puppets only have 4 fingers, so often the ring finger and pinky finger occupy one space in the glove, so trace accordingly.

The sleeve then is basically a "Y" configuration with the puppet's upper arm stuffed and the puppeteer's arm occupying the "stem" of the "Y" and the forearm/hand.

The proportions will be dictated by the size/style of the individual puppet. This part of a puppet tends to be very forgiving, so it's really rather easy to simply make your own pattern.

Hey. I'm just curious if anyone has asked about this pattern ever since this old thread. I tried making my own pattern to no avail. Maybe if someone has a drawing showing proportion and scale like this one but for a "practicaal hands" puppet?
