Did you parents ever worry that you might watch something violent or dirty on cable?

When we first got cable back in the early 80's, my sister and I enjoyed it a lot. She enjoyed MTV while I enjoyed shows on Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and shows like Fraggle Rock.

However, our parents were worried that we might catch a dirty movie on certain channels so they took the cable away. My sis and I were totally bummed and upset. Later that year, Mom and Dad agreed to give us back the cable, but with no movie channels, except Disney. So we agreed on that. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't watch Fraggle Rock since we couldn't have HBO, but at least it was nice to have some of our other favorite shows back. Then we learned something about HBO. All the R rated movies come on late at night and there are no X rated movies on there either. So our folks decided to give us back HBO and we were happy again.

I watch TV from 10-1 during Summer. Because my mom won't let me online past 9:30 or so. :frown:

No, my mom doesn't think that. Mostly because the only thing I watch with her around is really Sesame Street, Dragon Tales, etc. :stick_out_tongue:

Pull the plug.

We canceled cable years ago, and will never return. Our daughter watches programs on PBS, and DVDs that we borrow from the public library.
