Hi, folks,
Been a long time since I posted about Papa Roy, but felt this news deserved to be told.
On October 8, 2007, my grandfather will be 100 years old!
Soon as more information is available about the party I'll post it here:

If you're close enough, you're welcome to attend--it's potluck, a favorite southern party style.
It's amazing to think that in his time he's seen the world go from horse and buggies to man living in space on a space station. Although he's a little hard of hearing now, he can still remember good--all the way back to raising 7 kids on $15/week! Granny Ethel passed away in the mid 90's, so he's been living alone, cooking, cleaning, driving, running errands, and going to the Tunica, MS, casinos when he can. He likes to go to my aunt's house in Pickwick, TN, and party all night long with their friends there. Just as much as that, he also likes to hang out at home on his front porch with some sweet tea, or indoors in the A/C watching the wrasslin'.
He's still as sharp as he ever was in my lifetime, and I can never get a joke over on him--not since I was a kid and he realized what a joker I was/am.
And not only has he been a great father to his kids, he's been a terrific grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. For me, though, he's been my very best friend! He's the inspiration for my jokiness and playfulness.
Anyway, I just wanted to share with my online family here at MC about Papa Roy's 100th birthday.
