The Art Critic was played by Danny Devito, and I remember Oscar trying to show him Fried Eggs stuck on a Toaster, but he didn't want it because the toaster worked, he demonstrated by putting a piece of bread in and it came out just seconds later as toast. He had a few other works of Art that he tried to sell to the critic, but I can't remember what they were. And it was actually Oscar's Trashcan that he wanted, not Oscar, but he picked up the Trashcan and took it away with Oscar still in it. This skit is from either 1984 or 1985, and it's one of my earliest Sesame Street memories.

I remember two others he showed him were banana peels on an umbrella, and what Oscar called, "Whistler's Mud," which like the toaster was rejected in large part because the whistle worked.

His name was Vincent Van Grouch. In another segment, he had a "Heh-heh" off with Oscar.
