Here's a few great classic monster skits in my memory vault:
(1) Herry, Grover, and a small monster say, "1,2,3. 3 monsters." Then they shuffle around and put themselves in a different order and repeat the same line. They continue this several times and then tire themselves out and fall down. Where they conclude with, "No monsters. Whewwwwww! " I loved the sound effects that accompanied the shuffling periods! I also remember that this skit was also done in Spanish.
(2) A boy monster wants to be "there", so he keeps going back and forth between two adult monsters (Herry was one of them) and asks them where he is. When they say ,"You are here", he says, "But I want to be there."
(3) Herry tells Grover a secret. The secret he tells him is the 26 letters of the alphabet. Grover is unable to keep such a fascinating secret and quickly tells another monster. Then this monster tells another one and then that monster tells yet another one. Then Herry finds out that Grover told the secret and is upset. I remember two of the names of the monsters in this skit were Fenwick and Rosemary (possibly the only time they appeared on SS ). It was pretty funny how everyone in this skit was in such delight and awe as they were hearing the secret!
(4) The Amazing Mumford has Grover lie down on a platform and then says the magic words - ala peanut butter sandwiches. And he yanks the platform away but Grover stays lying in mid air. Grover tries to do the same thing to Herry. Herry protests that he will fall down if Grover removes the platform from under him. Grover says, "Herry, trust me." Herry replies, "Good shot." (GREAT line there! I didn't get this at first when I was really little) . Then Grover says ala peanut butter sandwiches and yanks the platform away. But Herry falls down. Grover then says ( while the audience boos), "What happens next is... I run! " And Herry angrily chases after him.
