Hey everyone! I just got back from a weeklong adventure in Southern California!
I mostly ended up in Hollywood for a good portion of the time, but got to check out most of the main cities down there.
The main reason for going was kind of interesting...I got invited by the guy behind a little underground cartoon called Spongebob Squarepants to come down and hang out on the Spongebob movie set. He's really digs my comic/art/ideas, so it was so cool being invited. I got to loiter around Nickelodeon animation studios, as well as the secret Spongebob movie production wing of this highrise(yes, Paramount rented out a big ol floor in this financial highrise just for the movie) So that was pretty surreal. I was able to put flyers of my comic everywhere on the set, and got to talk to a lot of the main people behind the film. Anyways, he took me out for burgers, and a tour of Hollywood which rocked and I told him abou my ideas for shows and stuff.
I asked him how it feels to not be able to go anywhere, and not see something spongebob related, knowing that came out of your hands?
But he's pretty humble about it...I know if I drew a 2.3 billion a year franchise I'd be pretty darn not so modest, heh.
I also got to meet another *ultra rad* person on the trip, when I met MupvisionGirl in San Diego. *swoons* Oddly enough we both were at Muppetfest in Santa Monica but never actually met til now, cept online.
Definately one of the highlights of the trip, it was great to be able to geek out and talk with a fellow rabid muppet fan as well as such a great friend
I got to see JH', Kermit and Big Bird's star on the walk of fame...there was security everywhere, and they had a lot of area blocked off around the Kodak theatre on the walk of fame where the OScars were being held. I was tempted to stay and lookeeloo for celebs Sunday but I had to get back.
However...I got to see in person(as in a few feet to a few inches away) at the premiere of Starsky and Hutch outside, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Snoop Dogg, Chevy Chase, Chris Kattan, Dave Navarro, Carmen Elektra, Andy Dick, one of the hobbits, Juliet-Anne Luis, and Stiffler's mom.
Other than that, hung out in Santa Monica for a day(passed by where I was last time I was there in dec 21st, at the diner we had the MC meet and the mfest convention hall), hung out on Hollywood Blvd, sunset, and Melrose in Hollywood...San Diego, Los Angeles, Long Beach, etc. Between all the walking, nite clubs, and other events I dont think my feet have ever felt so sore. Anyhoo, so that is where I have been!
