I have read a lot of posts about the fessabilty about the entire series of Sesame Street coming out on DVD and as much as I would like to see it happen, I have to admit, it would be a huge gamble.
But here is something that I think they should at least do; they should bring out the first ever episode on DVD. It would tie in well with the Street's 35th birthday. And it would be a revelation to people like me who were not alive when it aired. Furthermore, here in Australia, the first episode would have been shown in black and white as we did not get colour TV until 1975, and the series debuted here in 1971, so not many Aussies would be aware than Oscar was orange at first! Not even those who were around to see the first episode of Sesame Street.

DVD release

I think just because of the sheer size of the Sesame Street catalogue, it would be close to impossible to release as a DVD set.

The glut of DVD box sets that are out today focus on shows/sitcoms/dramas that have 13 to 22 shows per season. Easy to package that way.

They could put out a DVD set containing some of the most significant episodes: the premiere, Stevie Wonder, Hawaii, Mr. Hooper's Death, etc., just like they've shown on Noggin, which would be great for those that weren't able to get Noggin when they showed Unpaved. But those that did have it and want more will probably feel cheated.

So we'll see what happens in the fall when the new Sesame Channel promises to come long.

Box Sets.... yuk!

Box Sets of things (dvd and music) suck IMHO. You get one or two good things and the rest is garbage. I rather have the SS DVDs seperate, that way they are cheaper and I can pick and choose what to purchass.

BTW, also the earlier episodes, Big Bird had a thiner head then he has now. As if it was in a funnel for a while while the rest of his body was the same as it is now.
