Disney Mobile bring Kermit, Cars and Captain Jack Sparrow to your phone
New Muppets, Cars and Pirates of the Caribbean mobile games announced
"It's time to put on make-up, it's time to light the lights", and that's just Pocket Gamer's morning ritual. Only joking of course, we gave up the cross-dressing years ago – the reason for our jaunty introduction is that the Muppets are coming to your mobile.
Whilst a number of titles are apparently in the works, the first one we're likely to get to grips with is Disney's Muppets Puzzle Party, a rhythm game featuring the queen of porcine Miss Piggy herself. The porky one has to capture a string of differently coloured notes that are fed to her from Stanton and Waldorf, with the aim of creating chains and thus earning the big points. Due to take to the stage this summer, we hope it won't be a swine to play!
Moving from Muppets to motors, Disney Mobile also took Cars out for a spin around the show floor and the mission-based gameplay drew a few admiring glances. With tasks ranging from basic races to exploration and object collection (for which you'll need to call upon a map) this promises to be worthy of Pixar's imaginative talents, and although it might not quite give Grand Theft Auto a run for its money when it turns on its headlamps this July, it will be a helluva lot cuter!
Disney has also unveiled another adventure for Captain Jack Sparrow and co. In addition to the Pirates of the Caribbean multiplayer game we reported on a while back, the film's release in June will also be accompanied by a mobile version of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
Like the handheld console versions, Dead Man's Chest sees you exploring lush islands, solving puzzles and indulging in a spot of swordplay. With cutlasses drawn you can either dispatch foes with a few quick thrusts or, when facing a stronger adversary, break off into a mini-game to decide your fate. The E3 version looked detailed and nicely animated, especially when pulling off some nifty sword manouevres, and we're looking forward to plundering its treasures when it arrives alongside the film this summer.
And that just about wraps up our Disney Mobile E3 update. Not bad for a spot of gonzo journalism, eh? Ah, there's nothing like a good Muppets joke – and that was nothing like a good Muppets joke!
