Though I'm not completely done with the story yet, I decided to let everyone read the entire story, from start to finish. I believe I've already explained the premise of the story; but, just in case....this is a crossover between Muppet Treasure Island and Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, taking place right after the events of MTI.
So...here's "Muppets of the Caribbean".
In the previous swashbuckling adventure for heroes Jim Hawkins, Gonzo the Great, and Rizzo the Rat, the three were involved in one of the greatest treasure-hunting adventures in all time, meeting vicious pirates that were led by Long John Silver and following the bold leadership of their fair Captain Abraham Smollett, whom (during the adventure) was reunited with his long lost love, Benjamina Gunn. After thwarting the evil plans of Silver and his pirates, the crew set sail back to their homeland to see that Silver and the pirates be hung for their crimes. Unfortunately, Silver had escaped from the Hispaniola (a trustworthy vessel) and ended up being trapped on a deserted island; however, soon after his pirates were hung, word got out that Silver had found a way off the island…how he got off? No one knows. And what was an even bigger mystery was how the word got out!
The brave crew of the Hispaniola had kept up to their word and gone out to discover new lands and undergo new adventures, going wherever the wind took them. Hawkins, Gonzo, Rizzo, Smollett, Benjamina, and every other crew member from their previous adventures had joined in on the adventure, as the wind seemed to have taken them to the Caribbean. None of the crew members had taken their new destination with much glee, when they noticed three pirate skeletons hanging with a sign (“Pirates ye be warned”).
“Why can’t we ever go to someplace that’s not scary…like Disneyland?” Rizzo uttered, as Jim Hawkins looked closely at the hanging skeletons.
“Tradition must spread very quickly.” He commented. “Wherever we go, some pirates are always being hung.”
“I wonder what these guys did to get hung though.” Gonzo said, just as Mr. Samuel Arrow spotted a port straight ahead of them.
“Captain Smollett, we are approaching the nearest port of the Caribbean region.” He informed.
“Good.” Smollett said. “Start lowering the anchor and…” Smollett and the crew all halted for a moment to take notice of a small boat near the massive Hispaniola, with a man standing on the mast; they noticed how his boat was filling up with water by the second. “Uh…ahoy there!” The man turned his head and directed his attention toward Smollett and the crew, giving them a friendly salute.
“Ahoy, mate!” The man remarked. “You heading for Port Royal yourself?”
“Yes, but it seems that you won’t be docking anything by the time you get there.” Smollett indicated, and the man realized how much water was filling up his boat. Alarmed, he jumped down the bail it out.
“This guy hasn’t got a clue.” Benjamina murmured.
“We should assist this stranger, don’t you think, Mr. Arrow?” Smollett asked, and Arrow looked at the man and then back at Smollett, who knew what Arrow’s answer was before it was even spoken. “I suppose he’ll be alright. The dock isn’t that far.” Arrow nodded in agreement, while Smollett gave the commands to his crew.
The suffering stranger that the Hispaniola crew encountered was an English pirate named Captain Jack Sparrow; he was the commander of the legendary ship called the Black Pearl. About ten years ago, while searching for a legendary cache of Aztec gold, his crew mutinied and marooned him on an island with a pistol containing a single shot (allowing the deserted an opportunity to kill himself rather than die slowly from starvation). Sparrow escaped, however, and went looking for revenge against the leader of his mutiny: his former first mate, Barbossa. Sparrow kept the pistol and shot for the purpose of killing Barbossa.
Once Sparrow and the crew of the Hispaniola reached the port, Jack’s boat was sinking lower and lower, until he was at the dock and was able to simply walk off the boat’s mast. While Smollett and his crew were coming off their ship, the harbormaster approached Captain Smollett and asked for a shilling to tie up the Hispaniola at the dock. Mr. Arrow happily gave the harbormaster a shilling, allowing Smollett and a few members of his crew to roam throughout Port Royal.
“Oh, Smollett.” Benjamina said, romantically. “This is such a wonderful part of the Caribbean. Don’t you think we should…find someplace to spend a moment…alone?” What Benjamina didn’t realize was that Smollett really wanted to meet the governor of Port Royal to get his assistance in hunting down Long John Silver. But the frog knew that there was no harm in finding a place for him and his love to spend a romantic evening together.
“Uh…sure, Benjamina.” Smollett agreed. “But, first thing tomorrow, we have to meet with the governor and settle a hunting party for Silver.”
“So I’ve read through the narration of this story.” Benjamina remarked, as Smollett turned to Arrow.
“Mr. Arrow, inform the crew that we shall be staying at the nearest hotel in Port Royal.” Smollett ordered.
“Yes, sir.” Arrow acknowledged. “And might I add that the finest hotel in Port Royal just happens to be the Ye Happiness Hotel.” Smollett pondered over the hotel name; in his mind, he pictured a luxurious palace that was fit for a king and (in Benjamina’s case) a queen.
“Very well.” Smollett said. “We shall look up this Ye Happiness Hotel and spend the night there.”
“Splendid, Captain!” Arrow exclaimed, and as he headed back to the Hispaniola to inform the crew, Jim approached Smollett with Gonzo and Rizzo; he had been highly interested in the wonders of Port Royal, ever since he saw the hanging skeleton near the dock.
“Captain Smollett, would it be alright if my friends and I venture through the Port?” Jim asked, nicely.
“Yeah, it’d be nice to meet some of the locals, while we’re hanging around.” Gonzo added, and one particular phrase in Gonzo’s statement didn’t suit well with Rizzo.
“Did ya have to say ‘hanging around’? Jeez!” Rizzo exclaimed.
“I don’t see any harm in exploring.” Smollett approved. “But still be cautious; you never know if some locals might be rowdier than they look.”
“I doubt if we would find any riffraff in these parts, Captain.” Jim contradicted. “It doesn’t seem like the type of place to find trouble.”
“Or for trouble to find us.” Gonzo said, and just after Smollett and Benjamina strolled away hand in hand, Jim, Gonzo, and Rizzo heard the sounds of a promotion ceremony taking place nearby.
“Sounds like a party.” Gonzo said.
“Let’s go see.” Jim suggested, and they went to a certain spot in Port Royal, where the promotion ceremony of Commodore James Norrington, a brave and faithful officer in the British Royal Navy. Commodore Norrington consequently wanted to marry the Governor’s daughter, Elizabeth Swann (who was standing among the crowd of onlookers that were witnessing Norrington’s promotion, while suffering under the pressure of a tightly worn corset), both because a wife was the only thing his enviable life was missing, and because he truly loved Elizabeth, having known her since childhood.
Elizabeth, who was a somewhat naïve but lovable young woman, knew the one and only true person that he could love; so often did she reveal it to her dear friend Robin (a small, adorable young frog that was far more lovable than Elizabeth herself, who always watched over him carefully since he was so tiny). Robin knew that Elizabeth was in love with Will Turner (a common, yet handsome and charming blacksmith), whom Norrington didn’t want her to be with, creating something of a rivalry between the two men. As Robin stood next to Elizabeth during Norrington’s promotion ceremony, he couldn’t help but notice how she was sweating and panting heavily.
“Elizabeth, are you alright?” Robin asked, and Elizabeth smiled at her friend, not wanting to worry him about her shortness of breath.
“Oh, yes.” She replied. “I…I always seem this anxious during ceremonies like this.”
“Well, I don’t see what’s to be so anxious about.” Robin stated. “I mean, it’s only Norrington that’s getting promoted.”
“Yes, but it’s very exciting, isn’t it?” Elizabeth asked, confusing Robin a bit.
“I…I guess so.” He remarked.
Meanwhile, nearby the fort that the ceremony was taking place in, Jim, Gonzo, and Rizzo were watching as Norrington walked to get his promotion, unsheathing a new sword that was made for him by (ironically) Will Turner. The concentration that Jim, Gonzo, and Rizzo had on the ceremony was soon interrupted by Jack Sparrow, who approached them from behind.
“Excuse me, mates.” He uttered, and as he spoke, his foul breath was flowing through the nostrils of Jim and Rizzo (both disgusted over the smell); however, Gonzo didn’t have any nostrils, so he wasn’t too bothered by Jack’s smell. “Do you three know where I could find a place where I can get myself a nice glass of rum?” Jim and Rizzo were holding their noses, unable to reply to Sparrow’s question; Gonzo, on the other hand, didn’t have any trouble replying.
“Sorry, but we just got here a few minutes ago, remember?” Gonzo said, and Jack looked closely at the three characters, his short-term memory slowly coming back to him.
“Ah, yes! The little animal creatures on that big ship.” Jack said. “I must say that ship is impressive…” Jack’s attention wad distracted for a moment, as he glanced at a nearby dock that was different from the one he and the Hispaniola crew had settled in, “But not as impressive as that ship is!” Jim, Gonzo, and Rizzo turned their attention to the harbor, where there were two ships that were docked: the Dauntless (a big ship anchored out some) and the Interceptor (a smaller ship tied to the dock).
“They’re great,” Gonzo said, “But they’re not as great as the Hispaniola.” Jack grinned at Gonzo.
“I wouldn’t be too sure about that, mate. No offense.” He remarked, just before he started making his way towards that particular harbor, leaving Gonzo a bit offended.
“Can you believe that guy?!” Gonzo exclaimed, as Rizzo and Jim released the hold they had on their nostrils, inhaling the fresh air that was once polluted by Jack Sparrow’s foul odor.
“I can believe the smell.” Rizzo commented.
“He had the nerve to say that the Hispaniola was not a great ship!” Gonzo said.
“It’s not that big of a deal, Gonzo. It’s just a ship.” Jim said. “Why don’t we just let it go and do some more exploring?”
“Not until he apologizes.” Gonzo refused, and he followed Sparrow to the harbor to the displeasure of Rizzo and Jim, who sighed and rolled their eyes with disgust. Knowing that they couldn’t leave him behind with such a foul stranger, Jim and Rizzo followed Gonzo and Sparrow to the harbor, where Jack was immediately stopped by two men (named Murtogg and Mullroy) that were guarding the Interceptor.
So...here's "Muppets of the Caribbean".
