The innovative and most unique Jim Henson TV special, "A Muppet Family Christmas", originally premiered on TV in 1987. It has been released on VHS a few times, but only once on DVD in 2001. That DVD is not only out of print and hard to find, but crucial parts have been edited out primarily because of copyright issues related to songs included in the special. Sadly, because traditional Christmas songs like "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and "Sleigh Ride" still collect music royalties, the subsequent video releases have not been able to cover the cost of keeping these songs in the video version of this special.

Next holiday season, 2012, will mark the 25th anniversary of "A Muppet Family Christmas", and it will be the perfect time for a re-release of the groundbreaking Christmas special. Join our Facebook group and demand that it be released on DVD, and that its re-release includes the special uncut and unedited, just as it originally aired. The address is here:
