Mr. Hooper in Don't Eat the Pictures

I am wondering. Do you think Mr. Hooper was originally supposed to appear in the TV Special Don't Eat the Pictures? I ask because this special came out right after Will Lee passed away. It seems as though he could have easily been in a few scenes originally, but the scenes were deleted because he died halfway through the special. It would have been hard to write him out of the special halfway through, because everybody was locked in the museum for the entire night. Im pretty sure the special first premired in early 1983, just a few months after Will Lee's death.
