What ever happened to Mr. Handford, played by David Langston Smyrl?, Didn't he run Mr. Hooper's store for a while? I liked him. I think he was in Elmo Saves Christmas
Yes, he ran Hooper's Store for a while, and I remember him as well, and yes he was in Elmo's Save Christmas. I don't think they ever explained what happened to him, he just disappeared, and then Alan took over.
Maybe because of his age, they figured they didnt want to go through the same thing that happened with Mr. Hooper over again, so they Hired someone younger, but that's just a guess.
i HIGHLY THAT THEY WOULD EVEN doubt they would get rid of somebody for that reason. Why even suggest such an idea? Sorry for the caps I accidently hit the CL button.
Sorry Mike. But it's just wired that he disappeared with no explanation. I like Allen, but I Liked him too. Maybe he could have been an employee like David, Carlo, Or Gina, and they could have worked together.
You know I'm trying not to sound intolerant, rude or anything like that and I'm not saying it isn't OK to wonder what happened to those who aren't no longer on the show, waching the old SSU reruns I learned of a few that only lasted a season or 2 and wonder why they were on for such a short time. But you all need to realize that people decide to go on a show or leave for whatever reasons. There's no rule that they have to remain on forever. It was probably his personal choice to leave whether he wanted to do other things or retire. Let's keep in mind, they are people/actors they have a life outside of the show and we need not to always make such negative assunmptions including they might of been fired which can happen too but to be replaced just because of satus quo. I think the producers would have more respect for that actors they hire to be on the show.
That's true, but one thing to keep in mind was that Mr. Hanford was played by two different actors. You're probably right about David L. Smryl choosing not to be on the show anymore. But I can't help but wonder why they didn't just recast the character again. I guess they just didn't want to keep doing that. Oh, well. We'll always have his memorable appearance on "Elmo Saves Christmas." Lol.
