MONSTERPIECE THEATER
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

Fade into Alistair Cookie's library.

COOKIE MONSTER: Good eve-a-ning everybody and wilkomem to Monsterpiece Theater, and tonight me very happy to bring to you that sugary sweet classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... remade by guy named Burton. And now, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Fade onto a city street where standing in front of a building marked "chocolate factory" is a little anything muppet boy named Charlie, holding a picket sign and shouting.

CHARLIE: WONKA'S A JERK, AIN'T GONNA WORK! WONKA'S A JERK, AIN'T GONNA WORK! WONKA'S A JERK, AIN'T GONNA WORK!

Just then an anything muppet girls walks over.

VERUCA: Charlie! What in the world are you doing?

CHARLIE: I'm protesting against Willy Wonka's chocolate factory!

VERUCA: What for?

CHARLIE: Haven't you heard? Mr. Wonka and his oompa-loompas are changing the formula for their chocolate bars!

VERUCA: WHAT?!

CHARLIE: That's right, SEVENTY-FIVE percent less sugar! SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT!

VERUCA: What are they trying to do, kill us?!

CHARLIE: I don't know, but I know what I'm doing!

VERUCA: What?

CHARLIE: WONKA'S A JERK, AIN'T GONNA WORK!

BOTH: WONKA'S A JERK, AIN'T GONNA WORK! WONKA'S A...

Just then Willy Wonka (as played by Gene Wilder) steps out of the factory.

WILLY WONKA: My children, please...

CHARLIE: AIN'T GONNA WORK!

VERUCA: Mr. Wonka, like, what's the deal here, man?

WILLY WONKA: My children, I have an order by the board of education, apparently the whole curiculum of Sesame Street is about eating healthy foods, and you have to admit, chocolate isn't very healthy now is it?

VERUCA: Well... no...

CHARLIE: But it sure does taste good!

WILLY WONKA: That it does, that it does... but I assure you, our new and improved chocolate bars will taste just as good...

CHARLIE: How can they if they have 75% less sugar?

WILLY WONKA: Because my dear boy, each chocolate bar now has a healthy surprise in them.

VERUCA: A surprise? What kind of surprise?

Wonka then pulled out a handful of new and improved Wonka Bars.

WILLY WONKA: Perhaps you take a bite of a Wonka Bar and find it contains raisins... or suppose you were to bite into a bar of chocolate here and suddenly had a mouthful of chocolate and peanuts?

VERUCA: I like peanuts.

CHARLIE: I like raisins.

WILLY WONKA: And I like little chunks of fruit as well, which is why I asked my oompa-loompas to drop some pieces of dried strawberries and blueberries in the chocolate. So, what do you say?

CHARLIE: Sounds yummy!

VERUCA: Yes, I want a new Wonka Bar!

CHARLIE: Me too!

WILLY WONKA: Of course. Here's one for you, and one for you. Enjoy.

Wonka bowed and walked back into his factory.

VERUCA: Hey... my Wonka Bar has rice krispies in it!

CHARLIE: Mine has slices of dried bananas...

Fade back to Alistair Cookie's library where Cookie is devouring a case of new and improved Wonka Bars.

COOKIE MONSTER: Mmm... fruity... nutty... and somewhat chocolatey. Ah, me like dat Wonka guy, and me hope you liked this edition of Monsterpiece Theater!

There's so much to reply to...

First of all... Gene Wilder as Wonka? That was great, but I thought Cookie said this was remade by some guy named Burton?
Second, I've grown to dislike that movie for personal reasons... But this fictional telling was good.
Third, the classic comedy burnback of having the change to the recipe affected by the curriculum SW blockheads... Classic.
Fourth, this remindsme of why I don't eat the cereal Heartland any more. Recipe changes left it a hollowed out granola cereal.
Eh... You guys can change the Wonka Bars... Whatever, I'm stickin' with my #1 fave, Snickers!

He did, and it was, but Gene Wilder IS Willy Wonka as far as I'm concerned.

Amen to that!
:attitude:
That was fun. Tell me, did you have any particular muppeteers in mind? I don't usually ask this, but the reason I did this time was that when Veruka said "like" I thaught of Janice, and immediately thaught she might be voiced by Richard. Then though, when you talked about the new coriculum of SS, I realized that it is only more lately that they are so aggressive about this new healthy food thing, and so it could not be Richard that would do it.All in all it was great, and I'm really loving these Monsterpeice Theater sketches that you're doing lately! What's inspiring them anyway?

Know what you mean Snowths. Kind of how to me Rex Harrison will always be Doctor Dolittle.

For Charlie I'm thinking maybe either Jerry Nelson or Joey Mazzarino... someone who can do a squeaky boyish voice; Veruka I was thinking Stephanie D'Abruzzo.

My voice cast for the kids might include, performing by an actor playing Willy Wonka...

Here are the Muppet performers if it were made in the 1980s...
JERRY NELSON as Charlie (Green AM)
FRANK OZ as Agustus Gloop (Fat Blue AM)
FRAN BRILL as Violet Beaugarde (Lavender AM)
RICHARD HUNT as Veruca Salt (Purple AM)
MARTY ROBINSON as Mike Teevee (Hot Pink LittleAM)

The 1990s or the current decade would be...
JERRY NELSON (or JOEY MAZZARINO) as Charlie
FRANK OZ (or ERIC JACOBSON) as Agustus Gloop
FRAN BRILL as Violet Beaugarde
CAMILLE BONORA as Veruca Salt
MARTY ROBINSON as Mike Teevee

Note that I usually like to "cast" the characters to the veteran Muppeteers, like Frank Oz and Fran Brill and Jerry Nelson and Marty Robinson and Kevin Clash, etc.

I don't think Camille Bonora ever worked on Sesame Street, did she?

Actually... Yes Snowths, Camille did perform some characters on SS. Her most noted characters were Countess von Backwards and Merryl Sheep. She probably did some other characters, you can fid the info by searching for her ame at Muppet Wiki.

Um, Muppet Dude... You should probably say "might" instead of "will", since after all that list of yours is your own wishful casting and nothing's set in stone. Just trying to help and keep things OK round these parts.
