So yeah, these mega muppets are cool and all, but I have to tell you that I was seriously dissapointed when I got my Mega Beaker who was supposed to have "added surprises" or some bunk and the only surprise I got was that his legs were not also articulated at the waist. So instead of a cool fig with added detail or something he has 2 extra points of articulation and no props (which are about my favorite part of this toy line).
Anyway, they're cool and all, but I have a proposal for some Mega Muppets that might actually sell... Since they have the Muppets all pretty much built to scale as they were seen in the shows, my proposal is to have the Muppets who were guys in suits as the Mega Muppets. Maybe scale them down a LITTLE, but other than that, this is a great idea.
How many monsters could they make like this??? How many other muppets??? There's at least 20 more Muppets that could be made this way-Sweet-Ums simply leading the bunch. I also want a Lion-Dog fig for my collection without having to sculpt one (I did this with Sweetums and he looks awesome, but I still have to sew/ glue him an outfit which is a pain inthe caboose, lemme tell ya).
What are your thoughts???

There WILL be a sweetums figure coming out in a box, probably priced around the same as a mega muppet! He'll be out sometime in 2004, most likely, and will be, I think it was said, about 10 inches tall?? He'll also have some accesories....

anyway, this is all in the planning stage last I heard but palisades is really wanting to put one out!

Hmmm

Yeah, I know that SweetUms is in production currently. my whole point was that instead of releasing old figs who are simply larger (they aren't even BETTER, just LARGER for crying out loud!!!) they could make Mega Muppets line into something a bit more marketable. There are plenty of monsters and human sized Muppets who could be produced at a scale smaller than the Megas (Cheaper for us and Palisades), well, only SLIGHTLY smaller, like SweetUms 10 inch scale... And more people would buy them. If I knew that there would be some figs out there like Dog Lion, I would set aside 25 bucks or so for him. 30 is a bit of a stretch, but 20-25 is not so high of a price...

In other notes, there's a real tragedy out there... In their drive to put out the highest quality toy out there, Palisades has created playsets that are higher priced than the norm. While this has not kept me from collecting them, maybe the more casual collector has been a little gun-shy. Especially since playsets never really appreciate in value. Anyway, it could be a reason they aren't selling so well. Unfortunately there might not be enough Muppet fanatics who will be shelling out that kinda dough (35 bucks for the BEST playset ever-Swedish Chef) for a playset and leave it in the box. Of course I opened mine and set it up multiple times a day just to get more use out of it...

man, I had a rant going there. I'll get outta your way now... HAHAHA

Here's alist that could take them awhile...

OK, here's a list they could work with that could take them awhile...
Big Mama...
Doglion...
SweetUms (already confirmed in 10 inch size...)
Thog...
The Mutations (there's four of em so they could even do different versions)
Luncheon Counter Monster...
The list probably continues but these were the guys I thought could be done easily and sell easily (more or less)... Heck, Big Mama could come with 2 mini-muppets that she could swallow whole... Yeah, this is a good idea. palisades, this buds for you!!!

If Palisades ever gets the rights to the Fraggle Rock characters, I would love to see Megas of the Gorgs or even the Trash Heap. She could be really nice and detailed on that scale. Of course, making a "Mega Trash Heap" might really be more of a do-it-yourself project...

Thought about that...

Yeah, I gave that some thought and thoguth this...
So far they have been pretty much in scale to each other (Palisades Muppet figs) and if they were to continue, the Fraggles would simply be life-size (or come all together in one box cause they would all be 1/2 inch tall) and if they were issued as 6 inch figs, the Gorg would be YOU. Dressed up though. As to the Trash Heap, I thought she would make a better playset... Think about it!!!

That's a neat idea--it brings interactivity to a whole new level... Or, maybe, just an old level that many kids raised on toys that play by themselves have forgotten about...
