Just thought It would intrest you all, that as a die-hard muppet Fan AND a die hard Gilbert and SUllivan (the 19th century opera compoosers of HMS Pinafore, THE MIKADO, and PIRATES OF PENZANCE, for you total uncouths out there), Lousie has quite a GS track record. She starred in a london production of Pirates with Tim Curry in 1982, Appeared in the 1982 Film Verson with Kevin Kline, playing the lead daughter Edith, who she had understudied on stage. (Because the minor parts mimed to the origonal broadway cast recording, Lousie's amazing singing voice is dubbed.) She Appeared as the spinster Katisha in a moder verson of the MIKADO in 1985. 14 years later, she played the actress who origonated Katisha, Rosina Brandram in Mike Leigh's film TOPSY TURVEY, about the Making of the MIkado. Lousie is heavly Covered in stagepaint for most of her appearence, and her part is breif, but her stage presence is amazing, and her singing voice is more powerful than I've ever heard it.

Now, Lousie is playing anothr Brandram-origonated role, Haughty and Imposing Duchess of Plaza-Toro, in THE GONDOLIRES, another G and S opera, at the Chichester festival, through May 26th. Just thought you'd like to know.

I'm also a big fan of Louise and on a Louise Gold-related subject, has anyone seen 'Louise Gold ...by Appointment'? It's her one woman show and she does various bits from productions she's been in including numbers from G&S, Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, The Muppets and Spitting Image. Her website features a picture of her and a Queen Elizabeth puppet from 'Louise Gold ...by Appointment' and apparently she does some puppetry work in the show.

Does anyone have any more information about this show of hers?

Actually the film was BEFORE the stage show.
