Remember this early 70's skit with Simon Soundman? Simon starts by saying, "It's game time." The game might have been for the viewer to try and guess what sound he is making. I just remember he started making a sound like a horse. And then he pranced around the screen like a horse and the music theme to "The Lone Ranger" played. Then Simon "neighhhhed" again like a horse. Then a cowboy muppet appears and puts a lasso around Simon. He says, "There you are, Silver." Simon says, "Silver? My name's Simon, not Silver." And as he is being pulled away, he says to the viewers, "Say, who is this guy anyway?"
So with the theme music and the name Silver and a cowboy muppet, I'm sure that was muppet was supposed to be The Lone Ranger. I can't recall if he had the famous black mask on, though. I'm thinking he didn't, which would be puzzling that they wouldn't have included that too. But maybe they did and I'm just not recalling it.
Hi yo Silver! ( or was it Hi ho? ).

i'm pretty sure he did have a mask, and and what's funny avout The Lone Ranger theme, it it sounded slightly different than the actual theme. same thing happened in the Dragnet priorty when the cops were after the W.

The more I think about it, I can picture him having a mask on now, which makes a lot more sense. And I know what you mean about the theme being slightly different in the Dragnet parody. I liked that W/M skit a lot. It seems to be a popular one with most people through the years too. I liked when the one muppet said, "A straight line up, a straight line down, a straight line up, and a straight line dow .... Hey you! Come back here!" And wasn't there another SS Dragnet parody in more recent years where the theme sounded like, "dee dee DEE dee"?

I think the Lone Ranger also makes an SS appearance on an animated segment. A guy says, "H. Horse." Then a guy (obviously has to be the Lone Ranger) says, "Hi yo Silver! Away!" and rides off. The first guy says, "H".
