Practically every episode was sponsored by the number 2. Which is why the Unpaved series was never all that great in the first place.
Let me just say something about it, so you may not be as upset.
Because almost every show was sponsored by the number 2, the Pinball #2 segment was used in about 5 or 6 episodes. And how many episodes was the #8 version used in? None. And that "Madrigal Alphabet" segment was used way too many times. There were many alphabet segments such as the jazzy color alphabet with the dreamy voice, "Lunchbox Alphabet", a sketch from the 80s where they sing the alphabet song Country, then Urban, then Mexican style. So it's basically that there were too many sketches used over and over, and too many sketches that weren't used at all. It's like I don't remember most of the sketches from when I was little. I mean, I liked them, but I don't remember them from when I was little.
Ok, it's like this. I don't know if you've ever seen those infomercials for CD collections, but there's always an insert that goes like this:
You know, if you tried to put this collection together yourself, you would have to start digging record shops, yard sales, and even the Internet to find all these great songs. And even if you were lucky enough to find one, you would have to buy the whole album, and you would be stuck with lots of songs you really don't want.
That's exactly what Noggin did with the Unpaved series. And when they edited out some of the segments, they could have edited out the ones that were used in other shows, rather than the ones that weren't used anywhere else. That was stupid.
I think that idea for a Classic SS DVD collection would be wonderful. Maybe like each DVD would be for a different character, and maybe they could have a few with various anything muppets, one with all the great songs, letters, numbers, and all that stuff. And of course, one with all the significant episodes.
Does anyone agree with this?
