As a left-handed puppeteer, I have noticed that the majority of the time, the Muppet performers are right-handed. Who are the exceptions to this? I know Louise Gold has stated in interviews being a leftie and it seems like Avi Yakir (an Israeli Sesame puppeteer) is left-handed by the looks of it. Are there any other left-handed Muppet performers?

I think that Jerry Nelson performed left-handed on occasion. The most notable example is with his head on the two-headed monster. Richard Hunt performed right handed while Jerry performed left handed. So Jerry is considered ambidexterous, meaning he uses both hands to perform his chracters.

Yes I have read that, however, from what I read it was only during a short whilein the mid 1970s on Sesame Street, that Jerry performed left-handed and mainly because he had an injured should which took a while to heal, and he couldn't puppeteer right-handed (his preference) while the injury was heeling.

Mike Quinn is another left-handed puppeteer. It may be noted that both Mike Quinn and Louise Gold puppeteer left-handed because they are left-handed over writing etc.

Richard Combes and Terry Angus also puppeteer left-handed, but in their cases they write right-handed, and their left-handed puppeteering is because they started out as puppet-builders and so were used to having the head of their puppets on their secondary hand (ie their left-hand).
