Kermit at Iowa Museum: 11/23/05 - 1/22/06
Straight from the Smithsonian Museum, "Kermit the Frog" is now in
Dubuque, Iwoa. It's all part of the "Totally Frogs" exhibit at
the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium.
People are lining up to have their picture taken with the nation's most famous frog. A photo-op Kermit the Frog sits right next to the original Kermit (behind glass), which is on loan from the Smithsonian.
Everyone knows him from movies and from Sesame Street and now he's in Dubuque. And he is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the museum.
Starting Thanksgiving weekend and continuing until late-January, fans will be able to see a piece of history. This unveiling marks the first time the original Kermit left home since 1998. This is the original classic Kermit (built in 1969), used by Jim Henson, and seen in many of the Muppet films, shows, and specials.
Visitors hoping to get their hands on the real Kermit won't have much of a chance though. Only Smithsonian employees, wearing white gloves are allowed to touch him. The display case, which showcases the celebrity reptile, will be on display for the viewing
until January 22, 2006.
