OMG! Kermit is on Hollywood Squares right now plugging his action figure! I am so pleased. The Kermit figure is holding his mug and is placed right infront of him along with the camera! Wow! I am very happy. This could really help the line gain a little bit of needed momentum. I wonder if Palisades payed for the product placement.

What the..?

Well, I for one had no idea this was going to happen. I will ask the crew, but I had heard nothing about this appearance, let alone about plugging our toys.

Anyone get a tape of the show? Pretty please. I might have a figure available for trade....

I didn't tape it, but it was a very quick plug. Yesterday Kermit promoted the Rhino CD and today it was his figure. He didn't say the Palisades name, but he did remark how weird it was to have a static version of himself. LOL! Well, it's articulated so that's not entirely true, but I thought it was a funny comment. I'm sure someone around here taped it.

I don't think he can say the Palisades name, as it's not owned by JHC he just has to reference Muppet action figures in a generic kinda way and can say they are in stores now. Thats unless he was reviewing them, they are relevant to a shows content or are part of a news feature. At least i think thats right for the U.S, i'm a bit rusty on the legal stuff there but it's certainly the case in the UK. It's a little something in the biz we call 'undue prominence' - it's a weird legal thing in TV.

It's fantastic news though, cool he had the figure there AND talked about it. Hopefully yeah some people might see the figure, think they want one and go look around the shops. I'm really glad JHC did this - i'm sure it shows they are impressed and have a lot of respect for the product.

I didn't mean to imply that Kermit should have said Palisades' name - I was just stating that he didn't. That could explain why Palisades didn't know - that they weren't in on the deal.

Kermit didn't mention Rhino when he plugged the CD on Monday either. I wonder if he'll plug the busts next??!! LOL!

The only other items he could really plug after that is possibly Kermit's Swamp Years (again) and Muppet panties! Somehow I doubt that he will plug the panties.

Wouldn't it be so much fun though ? LOL ! Especially a Kermit/Piggy appearance. Kermit brings out the panties from beneath the desk and shows them to camera. Piggy slowly looks down under the desk, looks back up to camera and says 'Kermit dear, what are you doing with my panties ?'.

Knew you weren't implying that they should have said Palisades name, just trying to give some perspective on why they don't plug company names.

If they do plug the busts it's gonna be a shame they don't have the Miss Piggy one on show. I could imagine the jokes.

Return of the Kermit figure

Well, Kermit plugged Swamp Years today, but said he wouldn't get into the plot because he hated plugging his own stuff. (He has plugged something every day on the show) This makes me wonder if his appearance is an attempt to make licensors happy. A great move for Henson Co! My magnetic hat is off to him.

On another note, the Kermit figure appeared atop a real studio camera when they came back from a commercial break! He got a close up! Obviously the crew is getting a kick out of the figure. Just made me smile!

Legality schamlity. I'm really tired of all this walking on egg shell legalities. Man I loved the 80's...Im sorry, but there wasnt such a high fence around everything. you could have a movie or special with the Muppets, Sesame and Fraggles. You could have a movie with Disney vs. Looney Tunes characters. Companies can take their legal mumbo jumbo and stick it.

Personally, not to sound like a 'Toad', but why hasnt JHC been plugging Palisades figures before this? I just dont get it...the coolest Muppet merchandise in years and nary a peep from the broom closet(yes, I am now, until JHC gets back on their feet, referring to JHC as 'the broom closet' ^_^)
