So i was wondering how did Disney come to owning the Muppets? or did Disney own them all along thru ABC? (there television company)

The JHC sold the muppets to Disney because the JHC wanted to focus on other things besides muppets.

I don't have the answer for sure, but I think it's just that money talks.
