Muppeteer John Kennedy is going to be doing a series of puppet building workshops in April. This is not through the Muppets but based on his new book "Puppet Mania" which is a really great book for anyone interested in puppetry.

Here's some more info:

Hands In Art and The Orlando Repertory Theatre are teaming up to produce a new puppet workshop series. The workshop will feature projects found in Puppet Mania and will have an emphasis of performing puppets. Classes are scheduled to begin in April 2004 and continue through the summer. If you or your group plans to be in the Orlando area and are interested in joining our classes please call (407) 896-2501 x216.

This puppet workshop series is designed and run by John E. Kennedy, a professional puppeteer and author of the new puppet making book, Puppet Mania!. The workshops vary in complexity and age levels. Students learn how to build their own unique characters that they get to take home - but that's just the beginning of the adventure! Workshop participants train with our puppet experts to explore the secrets of puppet performance. Tuition fees range from $30 to $40 per participant and range from two to three hours based upon the complexity of the project.

John Kennedy's credits include the television shows Sesame Street, Animal Jam, Dinosaurs, Muppets Tonight, and The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss. Some of his film credits include Muppets from Space, Cats and Dogs, and The Country Bears.

The workshops require a minimum of 12 participants, so gather a group and call to reserve a date. If you do not have that many in your group, please call and you can be added to another group. For more details on the puppet projects, price scales, and available dates, please call 407-896-2501 x216.

There's more info about the workshops, John and his other work with ORT available on his web site www.puppetkit.com.
