Is anyone else disappointed with the blue java muppets that come with the silver shirt Lips variant? Were they ever actually blue on the show? All I remember are the orange and pink ones, which apparently come with the rare and expensive white-shirt Lips.

Actually... It's been commented that the Dancing Slinkies that come with the brown-shirted Lips Repaint figure are the show accurate ones.

Yes. On TMS the javas were really bright orange and pink like those that come with the brown Lips. The ones with the white Lips are far too dull to be the signiture ones. And no, they were never blue, but Lips was never in a silver shirt either.

Yeah they were never blue. But when they first appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show (if you get the DVD Muppets Magic you'll see this) they seemed to be red and white. Why they didn't do it like that, I don't know.

They also looked very different/ Less fuzzy and the little one didn't have hair on his "head" while the larger one did. Also, these were made in the Disney era. These Javas are owned by Diseny while the Ed Sullivan skit is owned by the JHC. Wouldn't want to confuse things and end up in a potential law suit.

So these figures were made after Disney bought the Muppets?

Suggestion for the ones you don't like: Break out your acrylic paints and get busy!

Yeah, or they were at least painted after the sale. It was during the transition period. Same reason the Muppet Skul won't be called Yurick even htough that is his name from TMS. They don't want any confusion with the Yurick that the JHC owns. The Muppets are so split up that Palisades was walking on eggshells. Like when they made Koozebane Kermit. They had to be very careful not to do anything that would cause people to think he's from Sesame Street.
