A character like Julia was long overdue for a show such as SS, which has given characters with other disabilities before over the years, such as characters who are deaf, blind, and wheelchair-bound. I know a girl on deviantART who actually helped make Julia possible, by developing and proposing an autistic Muppet to help familiarize children who watch the show with other children out there who are autistic, and realize that while may do or react to things differently than others (in Julia's case, not responding right away, getting upset over a blaring siren, hand-flapping, etc.), they can still be friends; this Muppet wasn't Julia, but was essentially something of a prototype that helped pave the way for Julia to exist.
