Okay, so I'm watching TV, and I see this trailer for a movie...

George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey, etc are in an interogation room, all dressed in army fatigues, and in the room with them is a goat, who passes out...

Thus, The Men Who Stare at Goats

What in the world are these people smokin'? This sounds like one of those B-movies that Ed from EEnE would watch...

Supposedly. There ARE a breed of goats who faint when startled. These guys were trained to make them do some by staring at them. It *says* "inspired by a true story", but that could mean anything. They're not crazy for making a movie about it, just crazy for trying this for real.

Yeah? Well, whenever Tommie would see her reflection in something, and I would stroke her back, she's actually start immitating what she was seeing in the reflection... I think I'll turn THAT into a movie.

Since the film is based on a book, i can't quite give the filmmakers full credit for coming up with an intriguing title and ad campaign for a film that's obviously going to be about something more but still as far as a commercial, that's a great little absurdist comedic way of garnering interest.

Here's what i dug up...The Men Who Stare at Goats is a 2009 American comedy film by director Grant Heslov due for release on November 6, 2009. It is based on the book of the same title by author Jon Ronson, an account of Ronson's investigation of attempts by US military forces to use psychic powers.

The film follows a reporter, Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor), who stumbles onto the story of a lifetime when he meets a special forces operator, Lyn Cassady (George Clooney). As they embark on a new mission, Lyn reveals his twenty-year involvement in a top secret, psychic military unit and shares details of their activities, each more bizarre than the last (including staring at goats in order to stop their hearts psychokinetically).

I'm partial to offbeat wackiness myself, but this is like surrealistically weird, lol.

Anyone else starting to think that goats are gonna become the next "It" comedy animal? Sort of like how we've had Monkeys, Penguins and Squirrels in the past? Somehow this caught me when I watched that "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Goat" SUDS youtube video.
