Gonzo sounds wrong somehow, but I nearly cried all the way through it!!!

I just got it from Scott's site. Is it from the Christmas Movie?

Yes, it is. Gonzo and Kermit sing the duet, and I think the song was sung as the finale as well.

When did they sing it? Was it during that fake universe thing? And what is wrong with Gonzo's voice?

Yeah, they sung it during Kermit's trip to the "alternate timeline". Gonzo is a kind of street performer who doesn't get the appreciation he deserves for his "creative" performances (If I'm not mistaken it was a dancing brick). I don't recall anything wrong with Gonzo's voice, perhaps I should go back and watch that part again, or maybe it's the quality of the song that you got. I dunno.

I think what sounds wrong about Gonzo's voice is that it's hard to hit certain notes while doing that voice. So, it kind of breaks up at points. Still a great song though and a definate high point in the movie. It shows that some really great original music is comming back into the muppets, and not just the more zanny Disney stuff.

I didn't have any problems with the way Gonzo's voice sounded in that song. Sure, Dave probably had a bit of trouble hitting those high notes, but in the whole context of the "Kermit-less" universe, it fit. Gonzo's voice was reflecting the sadness and loneliness he felt at not being a success and being alone on Christmas.

I'm glad to see you've changed your mind, beau. It really is good. and the alternate timeline does go far, but it makes sense in the end.

yes, there is a brick. Amy the Dancing Brick.

I had no problem with the voice. I agree with Kim, this gonzo has had a mighty hard life, and he sings like it.

I, too cry during the song. Whenever I'm in an iffy mood, I put it on (thanks a million Scott!) and just bawl my eyes out. It is the only song in VMX, but it's lyrics compare with any Muppet song (IMO)

Well, it really isn't the only song. There was a whole production number and of course the begining with that rehersal of the 12 days of christmas, and before that Jonny sang jingle bells. I think the use of music was done just right. Not out of place, not thrown aside.

AVMMC had a great mix of music, comedy, drama, and old and new characters. Better than I've seen in a while. The only things I would add are more Electric Mayhem in the main story, Rowlf with lines in the main story, and Sweetums with some lines. Other than that, it was really great. Even Gonzo had a good presence. He wasn't the star, but he wasn't pushed back, he was used just right. SO GREAT!
