Recently, I was at a friend's house, and when I got there, my friends told me that earlier, before I got there, they told my friend's mom about my love of Fraggle Rock. She told them that she didn't think anyone out of preschool watched those kind of shows. Then later on, they brought it up when she came into the living room and we were watching TV. They told her that I was the guy and she tried to cover it up by saying that she wasn't judging; she was just stating what she said. I kind of said, in a murmur, "Don't bother explaining; I get that all the time." Does this happen to you guys? And if it does happen to some of you, don't you kind of feel ashamed for a second, but then realize that this isn't something like Teletubbies or some other show that's on today that's for kids? I mean, this is Fraggle Rock, which really has something for literally everyone. I wish people would understand the greatness that exudes from this show, and that they'd stop comparing this and The Muppet Show to petty cartoons that we see on TV today which really are for toddlers. Well, all I can say is, "If only they knew."

You share my sentiments, Frogster. I work with kids who range from Kindergarten to fifth grade. I have four different Muppet shirts that I wear from time to time. Whenever I wear one of these shirts, I have to field a lot of questions. I had one third grader tell me that she had wanted to see MTI, but her parents wouldn't let her because it was "too babyish".
What the hoo-ha-ha? The Muppets? Babyish?
I told that girl to go home and tell her parents that I said there was nothing babyish about the Muppets.
Just the other day, I was wearing my Muppet Show 25th Anniversary T-Shirt and a first grader laughed at it and said it was cute. I asked her if she liked the Muppets and she said yes. I asked her if she watched the Muppets and she replied, "No, I used to but I'm too old for that now".
What the hoo-hay-hay? A first grader? Too old for the Muppets?
I told that girl that I am 24 years old and I still like the Muppets but she just giggled and walked away.
These are unsteady times we live in. I take comfort in knowing that I have four adult friends + my wife I can hang out with who understand and share my affection for the Muppets (okay, maybe they don't share it, but they do partake in games of Muppet Uno or Monopoly, which I appreciate). At the same time, I was once in a store looking at the latest Palisades Muppets figures and a woman walked by and said, "Aren't you a little old to be in this section?"
What the hoo-hoy-hoy? Too old to be looking at Palisades action figures?
This woman looked to be a few years older than me. So I asked her what she was doing there. I got a snotty, "Shopping for my kids" and she briskly walked away.
Oh well.

Fraggle Rock, the Muppets, Sesame Street... if you have to be a Baby to watch um, hand round the prams, man, and pop in the videos.

Most of the people I bother telling about my fraggle stuff seem rather interested. ... but, since this info comes from me, it doesn't really surprise them or anything. :smirk:

I know the frusteration that y'all feel. I used to let it bug me but then I just got to the point where I was like who cares. People will many times find anything to judge you on pretty much just to be judgemental or something. So if it wasn't for the love of Fraggle Rock there probably would be something else. I also do agree with Frogster in saying "if only they knew" because FR really isn't just for kids. I think if adults would give it a chance they would see the amazing message of peace and loving one another no matter what. It's such a powerful show that has a message that is needed worldwide for adults and children alike now more than ever. In fact I think the message of world peace is necessary for adults even more than kids now. If only it wasn't blown off as a children's show and others could see what we already know about what a great show it is. It's entertaining and has a better message than any other show I can think of. Again if only they knew.

The messages in that show go farther and deeper than I think were even intended. Gobo's comment about thinking everything is magic if one sees it that way says so much.

I totally agree. Especially those final episode where you see the characters figuring out how there all connected and Marjory explaining to Gobo that everyone is magic. Those last few episodes always leave me like "wow."
