Sorry, couldn't find the original thread

I have to admit, the sequel did turn out better than I originally expected, but it can't quite measure up to the original and I have two reasons why I think this...

1. It appears to me that character design, mostly for minor background characters, seemed a bit simplistic compared to the original, especially rhino and turtle-like characters.
2. The music. I feel music is a very important element in movies (hence my short-lived Composer Focuses, speaking of which when's the last time Xerus did his V/A Focuses?) in the original movie the great David Newman composed the score, in the sequel John Powell composed the score, John's music may be unique but it didn't really seem to fit the Ice Age "atmosphere".

So, what do you all think?

I have to say I was very disapointed with Ice age two. The story line was not very good and I just really didn't like fast tony.

I was very disappointed with Ice Age 2. I loved the first one, the second one seemed empty, and no real deep plot necessarily. Like it woulda' made a good television episode if it were a show, but not a whole movie.

And apparently they're planning on a third one to surface probably sometime in 2008 or 2009.

I was also dissapointed with the sequel, but the animation was marvelous, pure eye candy.

Really? You don't think it was a little more simplistic than the first one?

Well I got the sequel on DVD, and was watching it with the director commentary about apparently they were in a hurry to finish this movie because they were running out of time and to have the whole thing done by a certain time.

I can see they were in a hurry, but just the way it looked was very nice, and the colors were excellent, but the sea monsters were just bizzare, it had no point to it.

According to the commentary, the sea monsters were meant to be the main villains of the movie (like the sabers were in the first one).

I thought the vultures were more the main villains.
