All right..for starters on a sad note,my friend's mom passed away last week:cry:. She had had a stroke last year & was digressing in health. Now....one thing this woman wanted from her daughters was to see them married. (OK...so that's pushing it a bit but whatever.) My friend almost got married several years ago.But she found out what an idiot he was.So she broke the engagement. So,let's fast forward to tonight. I'm looking through my Email & my friend's sister wanted to friend me on Facebook.Sounds nice, right? Right. Up until I read her name. It's her regular last name hyphenated with another last name! So I look on Facebook & she has herself listed as MARRIED! THE FAMILY DOES NOT KNOW THIS! My friend & her dad are still out of state where my friend's mom's funeral was & where she was buried. The sister is there I think. So I consulted my mom a little while ago & ask if she knew if "Mary" (not her real name) was married. My mother said, "Oh...it's probably just a joke. She's done it before." Oh really? News to ME! If that little so & so really DID get married, she'll have heck to pay! I know it's probably not my concern. But good grief...couldn't she have told her mom she was married so the mother could die happily knowing that one of her daughters was married?
Kathy (HOPING THAT IT'S A JOKE!)

Oh wow, Kathy...that's not a happy story any way you look at it! I wonder if maybe she felt that it was a way to make herself feel better for not carrying out her wishes, maybe? Perhaps she felt guilty about it, and felt like she was making things right? I don't know, but I'm sorry to hear that your friend's mom passed away. Here's hoping the family can put the marriage nonsense in the past, and remember that their mother is the most important thing in all of this.

Hi dmoss,
I honestly don't know what the hey is going on. Maybe she is trying to make herself feel better by saying she's married. But she's only hurting herself. I'm sorry that the mom passed away too.:frown: .She was a nice lady. Hopefully my friend's sister will either:
a) change her profile in Facebook & say that it was a joke.
b) face the music & tell her dad.
(I'm just glad that I'm not a part of the family)

Maybe she listed her status as married as a safety thing so she wouldn't get hit on by single men? Do you know for sure that she hadn't told her mom? Maybe she has a very valid reason for keeping it a secret if it is indeed true. I wouldn't make a big issue out of it. Maybe friend her and then send her a message that you noticed the hyphenated last name and that you didn't know she got married and a congratulations. See what she responds. Just don't push it too much.

Hi Muppets Rule,
She has a boyfriend. I already friended her & sent her a message.First thing I said was I was sorry about her mom.:sympathy: Next thing I said was that I didn't know she had gotten married. So I have yet to receive a message back. And don't worry...I won't push it.

Hard to explain it then. It's alright to ask her about it but don't push it to the point that it gets in the way of your friendship.

I'm not going to get involved at all. I was just angry & needed to vent is all. My friend & her dad are almost home. So if it's mentioned,I'll make like I didn't know.

I'm so very sorry about this upset you had Kathy. Have a hug to make you feel better and don't let it worry you any more. You are wise to decide not to get involved with the matter.:sympathy::smile:

Thanks Marty. I'm just going to focus on if my friend needs me to talk to since she just lost her mom.
