Would you all believe I still have a GLASS-screened TV set? You want to know WHY I still have one? I'll tell you - it was a Christmas gift nearly six years ago, it has a built-in VCR and DVD player (both of which no longer work properly anymore anyway, but that's besides the point), and it gives off a good picture... so why do I need to get a new set altogether when mine still works?

Well, it doesn't really work too well anymore - for the past few months or so, the top of the screen's been slowly getting worse and worse - as of now, there's a half inch of blackness at the top of the screen, while the picture of whatever show you're watching, the top two inches invert, and overlap the next two inches worth of picture, and depending on the channel output, there's a lot of little lines as well...

Here's a visual aid...

Like I said, those fady horizontal lines really depend on the output - like if you're watching a standard cable channel, or a VHS tape, then they're more noticable, whereas if you're watching a digital channel, VOD, or a DVD, the lines aren't there (except for those godawful two white ones), but the picture still overlaps itself at the top. Is there anything that can be done about this, or is it simply time for a new TV, and if so, WHERE can I get a full-screen TV?

eBay was great for buying stuff; I managed to find all kinds of treasures on eBay, including quite a bit of Sesame and Muppet treasures as well.

Then they changed the rules to where PayPal is the ONLY form of payment used on the site. Not exactly a wise, smart, or safe move.

Have you tried giving it a good whack in the hardware?

Lemme tell ya what I would do, see. This is what I would do... take some duct tape the exact size of the messy part of the screen... tape it over the messy part. Ba-da-bing, ba-da-boom! Ya gotcherself a perfectly fine, fixed TV, ya know.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh my goodness Snowthy that picture.... can I have one framed? PWEEEEEASE?

Sorry I can't help you though. I'm helpless when it comes to technical stuff like that. All I know is tvs start to do things like that after that they get too old or have been used too much. We had one that the color started going out on - the corners of the screen turned purple and green, which eventually spread, and my grandmother had a tv that got lines and spots every now and then. I believe they were both eventually thrown out.

Wait! are you saying they dont make full screen tvs anymore? NOOOOOOOO! Those LCD widescreens that I know people have look awful. My one friend's tv has black lines going down each side like an inch from the edge and my uncles tv just has awful picture to begin with. And I hate how everything gets stretched on a widescreen tv.

They don't even make full screen computers anymore that I'm aware of... this whole widescreen revolution is SO pointless!
