Hi everyone.I have this one question...

How did Sesame Street become so popular in Japan?

I mean,they've got the coolest Sesame Street merhcandise there.So does anyone know how Sesame became so popular in Japan?

Probably because everyone here seems to have such a big crush on Japan right now! As for me, I'd rather have a crush on Netherlands, at least they make some good cheese!

I think a lot of it has to do with the Japanese concept of Kawaii. The word "Kawaii" means cute or someone who likes cute things. The Japanese have a fascination with all things cute. Their toy stores there put ours to shame - they're filled with racks of merchandised toys. They have entire stores devoted to a single product line like Sesame, Hello Kitty, or Peanuts.

Sesame Street is pretty darn cute and very merchandisable, so it's a natural fit.
