Bear arrives on Disney+Does anybody remember the old skit where it starts with Grover getting ready to surprise Ernie and it ends with Herry dressing like Ernie? I have it on tape which it is on the Rainstorm episode along with two Electric Company episodes and one full-length episode of 123 Sesame Street. Here's how this early sketch went:
(The scene is Bert and Ernie's room.)
GROVER: "Hello, every-bodee! This is I, your very own pal, Grover. Today, I am getting excited! Do you know why? I'll tell you why! Because today, we are going to surprise Ernie. Oh, YAY! Surprise! Yay! But, shhhh. We will get ready to surprise him. (He now enters the room, quietly.) Okay. This here is Ernie. He is reading a newspaper. I'll check if that is Ernie's shirt. (Sees Ernie's shirt.) Oh yeah. That is Ernie's shirt. But I will check if that is Ernie's hair. (Sees Ernie's hair.) Yeah. That is Ernie's hair. Now, I will surprise Ernie. Okay. Here I go. (Walks slowly and quietly) Tipee-toe. Tipee-toe. Tipee-toe. Shhhh. Here is the part. I am going to surprise Ernie. (Long silence for ten seconds until he yells...) SURPRISE, ERNIE! IT'S ME, GROVER!"
HERRY (in a BLUE nose and who is already dressed like Ernie getting off the chair. He wears Ernie's shirt and a wig that looked like Ernie's.): "Surprise on you, Grover. Ha ha! I've warned you!"
(Grover sighs in embarrassment.)
