Help!

I've always griped that I've hated my school because they place sports over education. Now I have a chance to change this, but I don't know what to do.

I've been encouraged by a teacher (the chemistry teacher) to encourage me for the Oklahoma School of Math and Science, I'm not taking chemistry but I had him in 8 grade, and he hunted me down in my Biology class to tell me this.

The think is, this school is two hours away. I would have a dorm, and could come home on weekends, but I would have to give up everything here. Schoolwise, this is not a horrible thing, except for speech. Speech is that class that gets me through the day. The thing I live for.

I'm only a Sophomore, and would have to apply by the end of this year, and I'm torn inside, I asked the teacher to get me some brochures, but this decision keeps weighing on my shoulders. I'm not asking for an answer, but maybe advice. I'm so torn inside, and this is a decision I need to make very soon.

Hey Sarah,

Not much in the way of advice but my trusty Magic 8-Ball said "It is decidely so" so take that for what you will.

You knew you could rely on me for that one right ? Seriously, i think it really depends on whether this will give you an advantage in the future and whether that advantage is worth being away from home ? If you truly think it is then i'd go for it, and if not just put every effort into doing well at your present school which i'm sure you do.

the way i always make decisions like this is to ask myself wether or not i will regret the choice i make 5 years down the track. its worked for me so far..and i dont think that trying to further your education could ever be a bad idea!

Me? I have no advice. I always rush into things and make stupid decissions.

Just try to weigh out the pros and cons of each decision first. Look deep inside you. What is it you most want in life? Either decision is correct, if it's what you really want. You just want to make sure that decision IS what you want before you make it. Like has already been said, how's it going to affect your future? Will it be good or bad? You want to make a decision based on how you want your life to turn out. I hate looking toward the future, cuz it can be disapointing, but I always do. I'm constantly looking toward the future, hoping things will happen the way I want them to happen, but you need to act in order for things to happen the way you want them to. Also, consider this: Will you be doing this because it was suggested to you? Or because it's something you really want? You sound like it's something you want, but you're not entirely certain if it really is or not.

I don't know if this makes sense or not, but, just consider everything. You still have a few more months before you have to decide, and you should use that time. But whatever the case, I think you know what you want to do... you just don't realize it yet.

Also, don't panic about making a decision right away. You still have a little bit of time left before you have to tell them, and like I said, you can use that time to consider your options in more detail.

the advantage is that almost everyone who comes out of that school gets a full ride to the college of their choice.
