Funnily enough, I was at Steak n Shake this afternoon and when the manager was told it was my birthday, I pleaded with him not to commense with all the hand-clapping and chanting, and he agreed. He said it's usually only the bigger restaurants like Red Lobster or Applebee's that does that, and mentioned he used to work at a Red Lobster and after having to put up with that routine upwards of 5-6 times a day got really old really fast. Coincidentally, I was having dinner at Texas Roadhouse a couple of weeks ago, and there were three birthday chants, each within like five minutes of each other, while I was there.
