I thought I'd read that in some skits, Grover would run up to Herbert Birdsfoot and yell "Hey, Herbie Babyyyyyyyy", and then slap him on the back, similar to what he did with Kermit. But in the few Herbert Birdsfoot sketches that I've seen, he does not do this. I've seen the skits with Grover and Herbert countign blocks, reciting an M poem (where it makes sense that Grover wouldn't have doen this), count to 20 (or was it say the alphabet? I forget which one is on the Sesame Street Video Player), and the one where Herbert tells Grover whata shadow is. So, did Grover ever yell "Hey Herbie babyyy" and give a slap on the back or not?

It's possible. I know I've caught him say, "Hey, Mumfie babyyyyy!" at one point.

I've never heard of Herbie and Grover saying the alphabet together, but I've seen the sketch with them counting to 20; Grover briefly turns his head sideways to "wear" an 8 like sunglasses in that clip. As far as the back-slapping goes, though...I recall ONE sketch with Grover helping another character teach about the letter S; instead of slapping the character's back, Grover slaps the letter and shouts "Hey, S babyyyy!" If anyone else remembers that sketch, do you remember who the second character was--and what inspired Grover to treat the S that way? (The S was a typical, non-Muppetized styrofoam prop.)

There was definitly a skit with Herbert & Grover saying the alphabet though I don't know about the slapping of the back part.

Heyyyyy S bay-beeeee!

In this short clip, Grover was with a kid (whose name totally escapes me) and they determine the letter in question is an S.
(Fulfilling CTW's cirriculum requirement of "Symbolic Representation"). Grover slaps the S on the back (who knew letters had backs?) and knocks it off the wall.

Grover: "I hope he did not take it personally."
Kid: "Snickergigglechucklelaugh." :super:

Well the clip on Sesame Street Video Player is the one where Grover and Herbert count to 20. The alphabet one is not available yet. Of course, I wodner if maybe Grover did slap Herbert in that sketch, and it was cut. A handful of other skits on the site are edited (including the one where Lefty wants to buy Ernie a scale and the one where Ernie and Bert compete for the TV chair).
