You know the pain I've had for a while? (headaches, sinuses, etc.?) Well I found out a couple of weeks ago that I need to see an oral surgeon this Thursday to have a molar in the back of my mouth pulled! It's on the right side way in the back on the bottom and it hurts like crazy! :frown:
As I said I need to see the oral surgeon, but he wants to see the X rays & then have the tooth pulled. I'll be the first to admit that I'm nervous about the procedure I need to have done. I've read stories and seen stories on TV about people who've been in the dentist's office having a tooth pulled & then die in there from too much novocaine or whatever.:concern: I hope I'll be okay.
I don't know when exactly I'll be getting the tooth extracted. I just hope it's soon & that I won't have anymore pain.

Oooh, that really bites. (chorus of groans at bad tooth joke)

You've got my full support and best wishes, Kathy. I had my wisdom teeth removed last August, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And they're really careful about anesthesia and lidocaine and all that, so you probably won't have much to worry about. Take care of yourself and hang in there, okay? :sympathy:

Thanks MN. I can't help being a worrywart about all this. Hopefully getting the molar extracted will make me feel more human again, though.
Oh yeah...about "That really bites."? :

(holds up garbage pail lid; tomato splats on it) Ick. I never did like raw tomatoes, be they ripe or rotten.

Getting the molar out should help. My wisdom teeth were starting to bother me in the months before my operation. Getting in the way of my chewing and all that.
You can't help being a worrywart? It's okay; you're talking to the Queen of the worrywarts here (or at least the Crown Princess).

My advice is, post-op, gnaw on a few tea bags, and stick to milkshakes, oatmeal and scrambled eggs for a bit.

... What? We don't tie strings that are attached to door handles around teeth and slam the door shut anymore?

Hope things okay for you, Kath. That sucks. Teeth pulling's not fun... unless you're on the other end of it.

Best wishes!

Ergh, don't mention the string-and-doorknob treatment. I routinely got threatened with that during my loose tooth days. It never happened; the grown-ups were just teasing, but geez Louise...

Although, when I was six, I was jumping around in a moonwalk and a friend accidentally shoved me (not enough to hurt, just knock me off balance a bit) in the back of my head...and a loose tooth went flying straight out of my mouth. No joke. Maybe you oughta try that, if the tooth's loose enough.

Ooh no fun! But at least this should make your pain go away so you've got to focus on that. When I had my wisdom teeth out my mom actually bought me baby food to eat. It was pretty bad, I ended up sticking to milkshakes which was not the worst thing ever. Good luck with everything and let us know when you have it done.
