The pillows are against me this time... sure, pillows are coming in the color I would like to use, but the texture of the fur has changed, and apparently that "shaggy" monster-like fur is "out".

On top of that, still no fabric store has anything I'm looking for - Jo Ann has everything else BUT the right type of fur I need.

So what I'm asking is if someone could recommend to me a safe and reliable site that retails fur online... that seems to be my only resort at this time.

They sure do have a great selection of different kinds of fur... I like how they dubbed that specific kind of fur "Punky Muppet", and use monsters as an example of the fur's use.

I'm happy to see they also have the color I'm looking for... but 25 bucks a yard under five yards? That's steep! But then again, I spent fifteen dollars on a giant fur pillow to get the fur I needed to build Steve...

Well, Jo Ann does have hairy (not furry) fabric that's off-white I can dye for different characters I'm building, but I really need me some punky muppet for a monster...

Anything else out there to recommend other than Mendels? Again, they got a great selection and all, I just think the prices are outrageous.

Their website doesn't seem to be working anymore, but this is the place that I get most of my fur. It's GREAT! They're the place that the Kroffts used to get all of the material for HR Pufnstuft from -- and I'm sure a lot of the fabric dates back from then since I've never seen it anywhere else. I usually can get my 4-6 inch long fur that I use for hair for about $6-12 a yard. And since it's for upholstery, they're super wide.

Anyway, I have no idea if they ship, but maybe you could try giving them a call. They're independent, so they do keep weird hours (not open on Sunday or Monday), but totally worth it if you can work out a deal with them.

Hmm, interesting.

I did some reading up about them though, and it seems like most people have nothing but negative things to say about them regarding the fabric, pricing, and even customer service... not that I'm doubting you at all, but since the link you provided doesn't work, I tried to see if there was anything else I could read about them to get a better idea of what I would be dealing with.

I read those as well -- on yelp, right? I know they did reorganize a lot in the last couple of years and the staff is a lot better than they used to be. I think that's reflected by the last couple of reviews.

No biggie, either way. Thought it might be worth a shot. I know the fur I've gotten there has been superior to anything else I've found locally.

Yeah, if they only had places like that locally where I live, lol, then I wouldn't have to resort to this.

Either that, or if only pillows still came in "punky muppet" this year, but apparently that's not the in style for right now.
