I know that members of The Four Fazoobs made occassional appearances on The Muppet Show during the first season, before they were identified as The Four Fazoobs. Also, the Steve Martin episode is the only one where they are identified as The Four Fazoobs. So, does anybody know if these creatures were around before The Muppet Show, originating in some variety show sketch (or for Jim Henson's proposed live broadway stage show)? Or were a few random odd-looking puppets created without any real purpose before beign used as a group? Or could Jim Henson (or somebody else) have already planned on creating The Four Fazoobs and built the puppets several episodes in advance before they officially did an act together?

I think like Scooter, Fozzie and other muppets, they were created just for the series. Two of them did appear in the "alien scat" Avery did (Drum and Fish), and three (Trumpet, Bird and Fish) were represented as creatures from Ben's imagination.
