Who are your favourite SS human characters?
Here are mine.
Maria
Bob
Lewiess
Gordon
Susan
Mr.Hooper
David
These are the people that were around most during my childhood days, when I regularly tuned into SS,from 1973 till 1977.
Sadly the latter two died during the 1980s.
There is something about Maria's personality that I always liked. She seems so level headed.A voice of reason. Her and Lewiess have performed some cool musical numbers together.
Wanna know something funny? As a kid, whenever I heard Canadian musician Gordon Lightfoot singing on the radio,I would always envision him as Sesame Street's Gordon.
David was pretty funny.Especially in the skit where Maria hired him as a waiter.Or when Sam The Robot turned him into a giant hotdog.
Lewiess was pretty funny too.Crawling on the floor moaning"AUGUA".And I loved the segment where he and Bob built a train track.

How did you mannage to do that with both of them? Not that I mean it personally. My parents have some of Lightfoot's albums which I heard quite often when I was younger and I never made such a connection.

I was too young to know Mr. Hooper (he died when I was one). But from the few episodes I've seen him in (about 8) I feel like I've always known him. To me that says something about the character's presence.

I can't think of a single human character I've known over the years that I didn't like. (Never knew Buffy) I've gotta say that nowadays, the increasingly grown-up Miles and Gabi just aren't as appealing as their parents. To be fair, I think it has more to do with the show's new format/focus than any shortcomings on their part. The human characters not only have far less screen time, they don't have as much latitude to develop their personalities. Even the remaining old standbys are barely heard from anymore. (Except good ol' Alan, but even he's a latter-day addtion)

Pug: You're right about Maria being a voice of reason. I think she has it in common with Kermit the Frog in that neither of them can put with nonsense for very long. They're both rather blunt and you always know what they really think about the silly things that happen around them. (yet Kermit keeps choosing to surround himself with total wackos, whether at home on Sesame Street or working with his show-biz pals... )

I don't know, Susan seems like the logical adult on the street. Maria has a voice of reason, but she eventually relaxes and goes with the flow.

I don't seem to remember Susan being around very much when I was a little kid (late '80s). I do remember at least two plots she was important in, though.

I always liked Maria and Linda the best. I liked that Linda taught sign language and that she became Barkley's owner sometime during the 80's. I also enjoyed watching Maria and Luis fall in love. I can still remember their wedding!
