I remember one film where it showed two live action white cardboard boxes with arms and legs. They had eyes and a nose on the front and some kids said they looked the same. Then one of the boxes drew a smile on the other box and the kids said that they're now different. And the other box drew a smile on his brother as well making them the same again. But this box still wanted to be different so he slammed a fuzzy mustache on his brother making them different again. But the other box slammed another mustache on his brother making them the same again. Then the two boxes kept sticking the following things on each other, ear cones, streamers, pom poms, balloons, string, clown noses, stars, and a flat purple hat. The purple hatted box tried to chase after his brother with another hat, but they ended up crashing and all the stuck stuff fell off making them the same again. Including their mouths. They ended up drawing back the smiles, only one of the boxes's smiles ended up crooked. "Slightly different", said one of the kids.

the more things change, the more they stay the same

Wowee Kazowee!!! I thought I was the only one who'd remember this one, and you've got it down to the last detail! I do remember the film was LONG- about 2 1/2 minutes, which in Sesame Time is a small eternity. But it was great watching the two creatures trying to outdo each other- one struggling to keep everything same, and the other adding one more thing to make them different. It was a fantastic piece of filmmaking. I'm sorry it never showed up in any of the Noggin episodes. Maybe someday it will see the light of day again.

In another Same and Different skit from Season 1, Kermit had two rectangles
(same size, shape, color) and everything is fine until Cookie takes a bite out of one. Kermie starts yelling at how his whole lecture got messed up. Cookie still has the piece in his mouth and he turns to look at us, and it looks like he's smiling! The expression on his face is priceless!
Then he takes a bite out of the other rectangle, and Kermit is happy that they're the same again (even with a bite missing from each). Until Cookie
tells him they're not the same at all. One's delicious, the other one's yucky.
Cookie then eats the rest of the delicious one, while Kermie turns and looks at us with a very angry face. Another classic. Sesame at its best!
