Does anybody know if Ernie's Rubber Duckie is a custom made prop or if it was a store available item, and if so, what manufactuer made it?It is unusual in that most rubber duckies look straight ahead, whereas Ernie's duckie has his head turned.I looked on ebay, and apart from Rubber Duckie beanies, the only other side turned duckie is a massager!:stick_out_tongue:

I had heard that it was a something they got from some obscure second-hand or toy shop, but I don't know that for a fact. You probably remember that they had a real "Ernie's Rubber Duckie" available for a little while. Funny you don't see THOSE on eBay.

Duckie is a toy

I'm glad you brought this up. It likely was indeed a "real" toy, because a friend of mine actually has one! It looks pretty much like the one you see in the first season episodes of Sesame Street - Mostly white with some orange markings on the wings & neck & head. It isn't yellow like the later duckies are. I don't recall any markings on the toy indicating who made it, but I will ask my friend.

Also, in a local county fair many years ago, there was a "rubber duckie collection" which included the same style duckie, but I think it was yellow. So it is out there somewhere!
