This was a rare one in that it featured Ernie without Bert but with Oscar instead. Ernie was looking thru his whole house and could not find his rubber duckie. He got so frantic to the point where he actually started crying because he thought he lost it. Oscar comes into his house and was surprisingly sympathetic to Ernie(Oscar usually liked to see sad faces). Ernie explains his problem to Oscar and describes his rubber duckie to Oscar as being "cute and adorable". Oscar tells Ernie he will buy him a "replacement" for him(at Mr. Hooper's?).

****** Intermission******

Oscar comes back to Ernie with his"replacement" rubber duckie. The toy turns out to be an ugly monster-like creature with a growling sound when you squeezed it instead of the whistling sound made by rubber duckie. It was what Oscar thought to be cute and adorable but not Ernie. Suddenly, Ernie finds his rubber duckie and Oscar can't figure out why Ernie would call something like that cute and adorable. It was a touching skit at the time. I would really like to see it again. Did i leave any parts out?

There was an epsidoe from season 30 where irvine wanted to take a bath. In one scene, Ernie was giving Irvine some things for her bath, including a rotten bath towel and a toy called a Rubber Yuckie, which made a loud noise when squeaked. I seem to remember it lookign a bit like a spiked ball, but I can't remember exactly. Coudl this have been the toy that oscar gave Ernie?

Yes, that was a touching moment, where Oscar actually felt sorry for Ernie and wanted to help. Oscar's "replacement" was the ugliest thing known to man. It was a little yellow rubber "thing" with beady little eyes, huge Grinch-like eyebrows, and when he squeezed it, instead of getting a little "squeak", it made a noise that sounded like "UUUWAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" Luckily, Ernie soon found his duckie, and Oscar got to keep his toy, and both were happy.

Actually, the face on Oscar's toy kind of resembles Grungetta. Maybe they kept it as a model when they were designing her.:grouchy:

I'm gald Ernie found his duck. 1 lesson to be learned from this is if you loose something in your house, it's probably still there you just have to keep looking for it.

In this skit, oscar actually cared about finding Ernie's toy, and gave him an ugly toy thinking it was his. there was a similar scene in a storybook called "My Doll is Lost", where Herry loses his favorite doll. Oscar tells Herry that he found a doll that he thought was beautiful, but it turned out to be an ugly doll, though oscar also found the doll that herry was looking for. Of course, in this story, his doll looked like herry, and wasn't the doll that herry Monster often had on the show.

Wow! I think I vaguely recall this sketch now that I've heard about it again. Oscar giving Ernie a replacement rubber duckie! Yes! Oh man, it's been so many years since I've seen some of this stuff......

Actually what happens at the end is Oscar and Ernie get into a tennis-match style argument as to which duckie is pretty and which one is ugly. As you might expect, our favorite resident composer has a crazy chase riff to go along with the back and forth exchange. Truthfully, I NEVER liked this skit, ESPECIALLY when I saw Oscar's replacemnt duckie. Man did that thing look and sound UGGGGGGLLLLLYYYYY!
