I watched the Edgar Bergen episode a few nights ago and had a question. I noticed that Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd seemed really in character from what I have seen of them before (which is, I admit, not very much), and just wondered: did Mr. Bergen help write their dialogue for the episode, or was it all the Muppet writers? Anyone know?

I seem to remember hearing that he helped write some of his characters dialogue....but i may be wrong....maybe the writers were just that in touch with his characteres that they knew what they would say

I believe that the Muppet Show writers had sit downs with various guest stars and tailored the show to them usually. I wouldn't be surprised if some guest stars sat down and wrote for that weeks show as well.
