I'm going out to get some dye for my antron today. I just want to know, after dyeing, is it okay to blowdry antron fleece to make it dry faster?

When I was dying test swatches of Antron, I used the blow dryer to see where I was without any problems. Let me first say that I have only dyed about two yards in my life, so my knowledge on the subject is vast, but I say go for it. Logically, it couldn't hurt.

Anywho, my first two attempts fell short of my desired goal because my dye bath was too strong. (Imagine using a salmon dye and getting the prettiest shade of crimson. :embarrassed: ) I finally nailed it in the washing machine. I then dried the fleece using my clothes dryer set on the gentle cycle. That may be a no-no, but I am happy with the results and no piling.

Go to Master Buck. He'll teach you the ways of the fleece.

Buck don't dye...well Buck does, but not very well. Buck tries to get someone else to do it for him (Buck also talks in the third person, as you may have noticed :stick_out_tongue:).

Seriously though, I think blow drying is OK. Just don't use the dryer. You'll be sorry.

Here's an idoits question--
Can you dye with Kool-Aid? (not with sugar in it,duh)

I mean, anyone who has kids, knows someone with kids or has ever seen a kid, knows that that stuff don't wash out.

Pssst.... I have used un sweetened kool aid powder to dye polar fleece, but haven't been brave enough to try it on a batch of antron.

I can say that it took about three packets of kool aid (dyed three seperate times) to dye about 2 yards of the polar fleece..... but I was going for red, so it might have been because I wanted a dark color. Cheap though! Cost me only $0.38 compared to the $2.99 for One box of Rit at my local store. I was satisfied with the results.

Hope this helps!

Kool! ..... (Aid:stick_out_tongue: )

Thanks for the input. I thought it was a good idea. I mean, all of my kid's clothes have red spots on them. I think Osh Kosh should market clothes like that so people would think you bought them that way, B'gosh. Sort of kiddie-camo.

If I try it on Antron (scraps), I'll let you know how it goes.

Now, have you ever colored your hair will Jello?

No, that wasn't popular when I was a kid... unfortunately, sun-in was the "IN" thing when I was a teen. Quite unattractive "red/orangy" results for a brunette.

But my daughter is a light brown/blonde and she did use pink which gave her cute pink highlights. It took several shampoos to come out.
