Disney struck gold this weekend with the release of Sweet Home Alabama. The moive grossed an amazing $37.5 million for the weekend. This broke the record for best September opening (Rush Hour $33 million in 1998) and the record for romantic comedy (Runaway Bride $35.1 million).
It also is the 3rd largest opening ever for a female-led film, behind Charlies Angels and Tomb Raider.
Great news for Disney, and certainly says something about Reese Witherspoon's drawing power, as the film recieved mostly mediocre reviews.
I haven't seen it yet, but will Monday night. Anyone see it?
