Andre black nerd put it best The Muppets now to Disney are what the Power Rangers were to them ten years ago. A Brand they purchased a while back that they don't know what to do with. And honestly, they should do the same thing they did with power rangers, sell them back their original owner.
Disney is losing with the muppets both creatively and financially. On the Creative side they have no idea what to do with the muppets, litteraly all they use the muppets for is to promote amphibia, a nonmuppet related product. Financially speaking their not the best investment, their past few shows are flops, and right now is their least profitable brand they have right now. So I think it's time for Disney to sell them back, becuse they don't need them.
Heres how I'd propose the deal.
Henson gets the character, and merchandising rights back to the muppets and Bear in the big blue house(let's be fair here they haven't done anything with that brand either) gets royalties for theme park use. And again the rights to Muppet movie and Muppet caper.
While Disney gets To keep the rights and all the profit to all Disney produced movies, and tv shows,50% ownership to Disney created characters(IE Walter and 80s robot), has complete Theme park rights to the muppets(Meaning they can't use the muppets at like universal),and has the streaming rights to Muppet movie and muppet capper.
Seems like a fair deal!
