did Simon Soundman and reporter Kermit share hats?

I just recently noticed that Simon Soundman's hat looks just like the one that Kermit wore in early newsflash segments. Do any of you think they might have worn the same hat (of course, Simon Soundman probably wears the exact same clothes as Mr. Johnson)? I guess this might be made more obvious in the weather report sketch, where Simon doesn't wear his hat, and Kermit does. I guess they didn't have two matching hats, and didn't want to make another one for that one skit.

I wonder if that's why Kermit's reporter hat changed, though there weren't any other instances where reproter Kermit was shown alongside Simon Soundman.
