Well, i am getting the hang of doing the foam assembly, but i'm thinking i might be overdoing the darts. Take a look at this pic http://muppets.zapto.org/patterns.JPG

maybe i only need the top dart. maybe the others are overkill? Any ideas?

I just want to make the best puppet possible, and most effective, but i don't want to waste all my foam experimenting since i am low on cash at the moment...

Try making a pattern out of paper before you start using the foam. Brown wrapping paper (also called butcher paper) is great for pattern making. This will save you some foam while you're experimenting.
