 Thank God it was only a rumor! Well, that's what a friend told me, and I was so worried that they would really change the Cookie Monster to the Fruit Monster. *huge sigh of relief* :excited: I'm so glad it's just a rumor, the cookie monster was always one of my favorites.

Your friend either did it to tease you, or heard it from someone who heard a slightly different rumor from someone else, thus distorting it!

*phew* Thank goodness it was only a rumor! Sorry, but a monster that screams "I want fruits and veggies!" isn't nearly as entertaining as a monster that goes crazy for cookies...not by a long shot. :stick_out_tongue:

I said it before (in response to the McDonald's/Nader thing) but Sesame Street, McDonald's, and any other fast food restaurant aren't responsible for what kids eat. That responsibility falls on the parents and guardians. It's really up to them to teach their children healthy lifestyles and provide them with nutritious meals.
Sorry, i don't want to hijack the topic but I felt someone should make a counterpoint to your post Mumford. As a parent, I agree wholeheartedly that parents and guardians are responsible for what their children eat and ultimately it's their job to teach healthy eating habits. That said, the truth is that many huge corporations (like McDonalds) profit from directly marketing unhealthy foods to children and are (at least) partially responsible for the tidal wave of obesity in North America.

Well then watch what your kids are exposed too. If you find that certain shows have an abundance of fast food ads, then don't let them watch that show.

I'm not saying this is true of you, but many parents use TV to keep their kids quiet. Many kids are left alone to their own devices and end up making the wrong choices like super sizing that triple cheese burger. Frankly, they couldn't market to kids directly if parents kept kids from being exposed to that marketing. Parnents should be on their kids like a hawk until they are out of the house. They won't be your "friend" or "like" you, but at least they'll be good people and have respect for you. (that's the general bad grammar you)

Hasn't anyone made the point that what's good for monsters isn't necessarily what's good for children, anyway? I mean, they are a species unto themselves - who's to say that cookies aren't a balanced diet for a muppet monster?

After all, Kermit eats bugs!
